10th Annual Wild & Scenic Red RiverFest 5/16/26 - FREE EVENT

Join Friends of Red River and Kentucky Waterways Alliance on May 16th at Red River Gorge Kayaking (394 Sky Bridge Rd, Stanton, KY 40380) for a day of music, clean water education, and community.

From yoga by the river, reptile presentations, live music, and local food & drink vendors (including West 6th) -there’s something for everyone!

Don’t miss performances by Bendigo Fletcher, Jordan Smart, The Montvales, Resonant Rogues & more!

Plus: Clean water info and activities, Sauntersong music sessions by the river, and more.

Become a Kentucky Watershed Watch Sampler!

In-person sampler training will be happening at Red RiverFest from 10:30am-12:30pm. Sign up HERE. Registration and an online pre-training are required. More information can be found on the Kentucky Watershed Watch website.

Kentucky Watershed Watch is a volunteer organization where citizens can sample streams in their areas. Their data is uploaded to an online database where results are stored and can be easily viewed. This information can be used to determine stream quality over time and to help narrow down which areas are of greatest concern!

Join co-hosts Friends of Red River and Kentucky Waterways Alliance for the Wild and Scenic Red Riverfest annually on the 3rd Saturday of May to celebrate the Red River, the only waterway in Kentucky that has this invaluable designation from the National Wild & Scenic River System which keeps it free-flowing and protected. The annual event is a fundraiser for Friends of Red River for cleanups, environmental education, & improved river access. Our 2026 event is Saturday 5/16, and includes free live music, kids & adult activities, yoga, fun & education clean water workshops (including Watershed Watch Biological Assessment training!), prizes, food & drink vendors (including West 6th) and more! Red Riverfest is a wonderful chance to discover a small part of the Red River and all it has to offer! We’re proud and thankful for the wonderful partners which make this event possible; Kentucky Waterways Alliance, Friends of Red River, Powell County Search & Rescue (SAR) and Fire Department, Wolfe County Search & Rescue, and other local partners.
